Too many problems with NHC house

ENID TORRENCE bought a house from the National Housing Corporation (NHC) in 2011 and thought it was a new structure.

But the St Philip resident soon realised that all that “glitters is not gold” and had to contend with faulty windows, shrinking doors and bathroom plumbing that quickly fell apart.

Torrence told the WEEKEND NATION that she had been calling the NHC’s general manager Lanette Napoleon-Young since 2011 to have the problems rectified but the issues remained.

“When I came one of the window panes had a crack in it. The two windows in the bedroom, one I have never been able to get it opened and the other when I open it the entire bottom panel of the sash window would just slam down, eventually it just fell out,” Torrence said at her Marchfield, St Philip home Wednesday.
