A CHRIST CHURCH woman is accusing the Urban Development Commission (UDC) of creating a headache for her, then attempting to wash their hands of it.
“The land here was all part of my grandfather’s property who allowed their grandfather to live there behind us. Now ownership of the land has been given to me. In 1998, the UDC completely rebuilt a house there as the original house was old but they did that without consulting us,” said Sabrina Cherry, (below) who lives along the St Lawrence Main Road.
Cherry presented documents from attorney Keith Charles, then representing the UDC, to Cherry’s then attorney Maurice King admitting wrongfully entering negotiations with parties who were not the landowners.
It reads in part: “My client in good faith entered into negotiations for the possession and acquisition of the area of land in question with persons other than your clients, who regrettably appear to be the wrong person with whom negotiations should have taken place . . . The Urban Development Commission sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused.” (CA)
