BARBADOS’ beach soccer team will be participating in the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in the Bahamas, next year, after all.
After initially losing out when the Barbados Football Association did not enter its national team, the players, who have been hard at training for the past year, got good news recently when Barbados were chosen as a late replacement for Guatemala.
Guatemala are currently prohibited by FIFA, football’s world governing body, from taking part in international competition, paving the way for Barbados to be included among the nine Caribbean teams participating in the 16-nation tournament, scheduled for Nassau, from February 20 to 26.
The Barbadians are in a tough Group B, alongside Guadeloupe and CONCACAF powerhouses Mexico and Canada. (EZS)
