BWA awaiting equipment

FACED WITH ONGOING environmental issues along the country’s South Coast as a result of system failures in the South Coast Sewerage Project, the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is now waiting on a special set of equipment to shore up its operations.

Acting general manager Dr John Mwansa said the state-owned corporation was in the process of obtaining the equipment as part of its South Coast Sewerage System Improvement programme.

“We are currently procuring additional equipment using Government of Barbados funding to procure and continue the plant equipment and maintenance programme,” he told the DAILY NATION in a recent interview.

It’s been a tough three weeks for the BWA, as residents, business owners and even visitors to Barbados have complained of sewage running into the streets after recent heavy downpours of rain. (BA)
