DEAR CHRISTINE: Caught between two lovers

Share post:

DEAR CHRISTINE, I am 19 and I am caught between two lovers.

Last year I visited an island for a vacation. While there, I met a very nice man. He fell in love with me and I thought that I was in love too, until I returned home and met another man, whom I truly and honestly love.

He also loves me, as I have proved this, over the past three months. Anyway, the guy from overseas kept writing and calling, saying how much he loves me.

He then came for a holiday and stayed at my home. Now he is asking me to marry him. I no longer love this man Christine, I’ve told him so and he says that I am lying. I really don’t know what to do. I don’t want to hurt anyone but I feel trapped.

Dear B.

At times it is necessary to hurt people to get the truth across. Having him visit you in your home can appear to be a contradiction. Once you’ve stated your feelings on the holiday affair, he cannot force you into continuing with it.

It is a true saying that you sometimes have to be cruel to be kind.

It would be unkind for you to go along with him, when you know you no longer care. You’ll soon get tired of being polite.

– CHRISTINE
