THERE WAS PLENTY Bajan talent on the stage Saturday night at Apes Hill Golf Club.
For those who didn’t make it to the last night of Classical Pops, they would have missed the beautiful voice of Shontelle Martin who is finishing up studies at the Manhattan School of Music; the timbre of St Leonard’s 100 Boys Choir under the direction of Andrew Lokey; David ZigE Walcott coaxing out sounds from his steelpan, and David Collins pulling at the heartstrings with his guitar.
But the biggest name was headliner Heather Headley, who was born in Trinidad, “but the Headley is Bajan”, she told the crowd.
Classical Pops took a stroll down Broadway with songs from the big productions such as Chicago, Cabaret, Evita, Les Miserables, Phantom Of The Opera, Now And Forever, Broadway and West Side Story. (NS)
