CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY for the Thelma Vaughn Memorial Home  on Friday.

Thanks to the Sandy Lane Charitable Trust (SLCT), the St George home will soon have a spanking new Respite and Day Care Centre.

Word of this came from SLCT’s trustee Phillipa Challis, who revealed that the facility, which is being built on the same property as the home, should be completed by next April.

She said the new building would also double as a centre for severely brain injured children and would be the first of its kind on the island.

While not giving an exact figure of the cost of construction, Challis estimated it would cost in excess of $1.2 million and would be completely paid for by the SLCT. (RB)
