BARBADIAN STUDENTS in Cuba in the area likely to be affected by Hurricane Matthew today are receiving regular updates and following the directives of Cuba’s Civil Defence to ensure their safety.

This has been disclosed by Chargé d’Affaires at Barbados’ Embassy in Cuba, Donna Forde, who said that eight of the 17 Barbadian students were in the eastern provinces of Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba and Las Tunas.

She said three students, who resided off campus, were back at their universities.

“As can be expected, the students are anxious and a little frightened. They have never experienced a hurricane before,” she said.  (BN)
