NICOLE HAYNES decided to make a quick trip to the shop yesterday when Tropical Storm Matthew was in full force.
It was a decision that might have saved her life.
The 37-year-old, of 3rd avenue, New Orleans, St Michael, had just returned home and was standing in her verandah when a loud crash scared her out of her wits.
A neighbour’s tree had crashed into the back part of her house near the kitchen.
Luckily, she nor her 15-year-old son was inside.
“I had just stepped on the verandah when it came down. It almost gave me a heart attack,” Haynes told the DAILY NATION as she watched a number of neighbours brave heavy showers to cut the tree from her roof. (BA)
