DEAR CHRISTINE: Not sure if he really loves me

Dear Christine,

I AM IN LOVE with a man who is a good few years older than I am. I love this man very much but I do not know if he loves me.

He never told me he did. Every time I go where he works, I can see a different woman there. With all this, I cannot say a word.

He lately purchased a car, yet he takes me nowhere. I am 17 and he is 28. Christine, he has never given me anything.

I am not looking for what he has to give, but I am looking for a nice man to love me and make me happy.

We have been intimate with each other. Does this mean he loves me? Do you think I should go further with this man? We have been friends for just about three months.

Dear D.V.,

The answers to your two questions are No! No! That man does not care for you other than the pleasure he gets from the use of your body.

You are still very young and too eager to find someone to make you happy. His kind won’t. They will use you and then lose you.

Look around and see how many young girls are already in trouble. I don’t think these girls are as bad as they appear to be. They are just trusting foolishly in unworthy men who they accept on the strength of their words.

Anyone can say “I love you” but how many apply appropriate actions to those words?

Stop going to this man’s workplace or his home. If you keep on doing this, you can’t blame him for what he does to you. You cannot go into a lion’s den and not expect to be eaten up. You can’t go after a man and not expect him to make use of you.

When a man cares he’ll come to you. What’s more, he’ll want to care for you and provide for you. He’ll want to marry you. Does this man give any indication that this is what he intends to do? Ask yourself that question, then close this chapter of your life.
