Glover due next month

AMERICAN ACTOR Danny Glover will be in Barbados next month for activities marking the 40th anniversary of the 1976 Cubana airline crash.

The Cuban aircraft crashed into the sea off Paynes Bay in St James on October 6, 1976, in what is today considered one of the earliest acts of terrorism in this part of the world. It claimed the lives of 73 people.

The acclaimed actor best remembered for his role in the film Lethal Weapon is recognised as a political activist, speaking out against political issues around the world and he will make several public appearances while in Barbados.

He will participate in a panel discussion entitled: Love and Life: Pathways to Community, National and Social Development at the Amazing Grace Seventh Day Adventist Church on Deacon’s Main Road on October 6.

This event is being sponsored by the Clement Payne Movement, the Pan African Coalition of Organisations, the Cubana/Barbadian Friendship Association and the International Network in Defence of Humanity.

Glover will also make appearances at a Cubana Photo and a Chattel House Books Book Exhibition at Heroes Square, Bridgetown. (GC)
