THE FIGHT BETWEEN Rock Hard Cement Ltd and the Town and Country Planning Department will drag on for just a bit longer.

When attorneys representing the two entities met in No. 9 Supreme Court yesterday afternoon, Justice Randall Worrell adjourned the matter until October 11.

In a brief interview shortly after the hour-long in-chambers meeting came to an end, attorneys for Rock Hard Cement, Vincent Watson and Derrick Oderson, told the media they had made submissions to the court and were now waiting for representatives from the state agency to reply.

“We made some preliminary submissions and the other side has been given some time to respond to those submissions. They have to file them by September 26 and then the court will hear it on October 11.”

Attorneys representing Town Planning, Crown Counsel Gayl Scott and Senior Crown Counsel Allison Burke, declined comment.

While chief executive officer of Rock Hard Cement Mark Maloney was notably absent, Chief Town Planner Mark Cummins, Chief Planning Assistant Jerome Walcott and Senior Town Planner Rudy Headley were present at yesterday’s proceedings.

Rock Hard Cement is accused of breaching a notice issued by the Chief Town Planner to stop building a storage facility at its Flour Mill site off Spring Garden Highway. (RB)
