THE BARBADOS Badminton Association claimed 32 medals and fourth place overall at the recent Carebaco International in Aruba.

Of the medals captured, five were gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze.

The tournament was won by the Dominican Republic, with Guyana second and Suriname third.

Speaking after the team’s arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Monday night, head coach Shakira Waithe told MIDWEEK SPORT she was pleased the team exceeded their performance of the previous year.

“It is a major improvement from last year when we got two silver and 19 bronze,” she said. (RG)
