That was the concern expressed by a highly placed source affiliated with the industry. The source presented the SUNDAY SUN with information purporting to show that about three to four months’ supply of sand remained at Walkers Sand Quarry in St Andrew.
The quarry, which is run by private mining company Island Developments Limited, provides silica sand, an important part of concrete mix.
The information was allegedly taken from a 4-page report by the Energy Division, following a site visit on May 25. (LT)
