Worrell’s comments ‘a concern’

That was how the outgoing chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA), Alex McDonald, described the business community’s reaction to governor of the Central Bank Dr DeLisle Worrell’s hint that foreign exchange outflows would be “tightened”.

McDonald told the SUNDAY SUN that with the disclosure, it was imperative that the Governor, the private sector and the country’s monetary managers remained in direct communication to understand the problem and to assist.

“For us, our reaction will have to be muted, but very concerned,” McDonald said.

“This type of action, even in what we would consider the height of the crisis was never really contemplated, so something is wrong and we don’t know what it is.” (AD)
