CASH TRAP

BUSINESSES ARE experiencing some of their toughest times in living memory.

Things are so bad that some defer paying utility companies or meeting their statutory obligations to have enough cash to keep their doors open.

And the heads of the two leading business associations place much of the blame on Government’s tardiness with tax refunds.

“There are members who have said to me that this month they will pay electricity and next month they will pay National Insurance because they can’t afford to pay everything in one month,” revealed president of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eddie Abed. (SP)
