Scanners, CCTV options for schools

SCANNING DEVICES AND closed-circuit television cameras in schools are just two of the recommendations a security organisation will be sending to the Ministry of Education in a matter of weeks.

The recommendations are coming from the Caribbean Association of Security Professionals (CASP), the board members of which held a news conference yesterday.

Chairman of CASP, Oral Reid, said members of the board met president of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Pedro Shepherd, and as a result “we are now fully informed with regard to some of the challenges which exist within the school environment and the challenges which members of the teaching population have been exposed to and (have) experienced over time”.
