LA-TOYA KENISHA SMART made her way across the courtyard of Central Police Station yesterday in the grip of a police officer and dragging a large bag of clothing and other possessions.

The accused drug smuggler later appeared in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court where she pleaded guilty to four drug charges.

Smart, 25, a Guyanese, admitted that she had cannabis, supplied it, trafficked in it and imported it.

The customer service representative will spend the next 28 days behind bars at HMP Dodds before she is sentenced on June 20 by Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell.

According to the police, on May 21 Smart arrived at Grantley Adams International Airport and was interviewed by officers. She was referred to Customs for a search, during which eight packages of cannabis weighing a pound were found hidden within the structure of her luggage.  (TKS)
