Mia: People have the power

THE POWER OF the people is stronger than the people in power.

That refrain became the theme for the Barbados Labour Party-organised March For Justice which ended with a rally at Browne’s Beach on Bay Street, St Michael, yesterday.

The march, which began outside Heroes Square in The City at noon, ended just after 1 p.m. when BLP leader Mia Mottley, and her colleagues Jeffrey Bostic and Kerrie Symmonds revved up participants with short, spicy speeches about the plight facing Barbadians under the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) Government.

Mottley recalled the last time a BLP-organised march was held (2014) it attracted more supporters, and still had a positive effect, leading to the repeal of the controversial municipal solid waste tax. She said she expected yesterday’s event to lead to social changes as well. (BA)
