A FEUD over the Power family’s multimillion-dollar inheritance may block the sale of the last major piece of real estate in the hands of the family enterprise.
In a running public notice, which also appeared in yesterday’s SATURDAY SUN, 169.5 acres of residual lands of the Sugar Work Plantation at Lower Estate, St Michael, was put under the auctioneer’s hammer for May 13. But a public notice two pages over in the same edition warned prospective buyers off attempting to purchase the lands owned by Denzil Power & Sons Ltd stating it was not approved by the shareholders and directors and therefore any sale would be null and void.
This most recent development is part of a long-standing battle among the Power siblings, following the death of patriarch Denzil Power 20 years ago at which time Michael Power, assumed control of the company and its properties and is named in yesterday’s notice offering the land for sale.
