Some Barbadians living in the north of the island can brace for possible water outages as Tropical Storm Dorian approaches Barbados.

Parts of St James and St Peter will be impacted as the Ionics Fresh Water Limited advised the Barbados Water Authority of the closure of its Desalination Plant.

Ionics Fresh Water Limited is seeking to protect its equipment as the storm passes. Once the all clear is given, operations at the plant will resume.

Affected Areas – St James: Prospect, Fitts Village, Appleby, Derricks, Paynes Bay, Sandy Lane, Sunset Crest, Holetown, Jamestown Park, Trents, Porters, Lower Mount Standfast. Storehouse Gap, The Garden, Weston, Lower Crick Hill, Lower Carlton and surrounding areas. St Peter: Gibbs, Mullins, Road View, Battaleys, Farm Road, Heywoods Park, Speightstown and surrounding districts.

The water tanker service will also not be available until the storm has passed. (AGB/PR)
