In assessing the final match which Barbados lost 21-35 to Jamaica on Friday night at the Netball Stadium, coach Julie Phillips acknowledged where they went wrong, but also praised the opposition.
“The game didn’t go according to how we had planned, but I must say Jamaica played really well. Trying to neutralise that 6’4” shooter was somewhat challenging for us. All in all, we started the game too slowly and we played in parts,” Phillips said.
She was referring to Jamaica’s goal shooter Lori Daley who scored 24 from 32 attempts. Jamaica used the same play – the lob into the circle to Daley – to beat goalkeeper Sheridan Straughn throughout the game. Goal attack Zandria Cohen was also a solid 11 from 12.
