IT WASN’T QUITE their record of 53, but Barbados are more than satisfied with their eventual medal haul.
The ultramarine and gold finished the 31st CARIFTA Swimming Championships with 44 medals after Danielle Titus and McCallum Clarke turned in more record-breaking performances to spur the country’s 12-medal showing on Friday night in Martinique.
On the night Barbados captured seven golds, three silvers and a pair of bronze medals to give them 18 golds, 12 silvers and 14 bronze medals in their overall tally.
It put them third on the medal table behind leading nation Guadeloupe and The Bahamas. They also finished fourth in the point standings, with their 538.5 points placing them behind Guadeloupe (796), The Bahamas (774.5) and Martinique (586).
