THE BARBADOS BAR ASSOCIATION (BAR) has added its voice of concern about Government’s proposal to introduce fingerprinting at the island’s ports of entry.
And at a special general meeting earlier this week, the legal body requested a meeting with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to discuss the constitutionality of the Immigration (Biometric) Regulations, 2015, which came under fire from several quarters including attorney at law David Comissiong who has threatened to take the matter to the High Court.
The reaction from the Bar was followed yesterday by a Government Information Service (GIS) release which stated that the Immigration Department had deferred plans to introduce the fingerprinting system which was supposed to start on April 1.
