THE BARBADOS Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU) will be staging a mass meeting with its members to discuss a way forward after talks with officials of the Ministry of Education.
The talks, which lasted almost two hours at the Ministry of Education Constitution Road, St Michael headquarters, centred around payment to mark School Based Assessments.
Speaking to the media after the meeting adjourned earlier today, BSTU president Mary Redman said the Permanent Secretary [June Chandler] had requested a chance to seek legal advice before going any further with the discussions.
“We had a very interesting meeting, and at this stage, the permanent secretary has [asked] to seek legal advice on the matter. We are in the meantime organising a mass meeting of our members . . .
“We are looking towards Friday, but of course, we have to secure a location so that we can inform them of the latest developments and maintain our position,” said Redman. (JS)
