LIKE A number of sports in Barbados, badminton is in desperate need of its own indoor facility.
“We need a home court, that’s the biggest problem. Without a home, we are struggling to go from place to place to get time on the court,” vice-president of the Barbados Badminton Association (BBA), Elius Fanus, told NATION SPORT during the first day of the 2016 National Junior Badminton Championships at the Wildey Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
Fanus said that although there was an increase in the number of players participating in the sport over the years, the true potential of badminton on the island would continue to be stiffled without a court of their own.
He also believes the scheduled temporary closing of the Wildey Gymnasium after April would directly affect their playing time and that of many other sports that were usually held there.
