Todd: Football on sound footing

DOZENS of players who participated in the first National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme National Under-17 Tournament were on Sunday treated to an awards luncheon at the Christ Church Parish Church Centre.

St George South defeated St Lucy when the finals were held on January 21 at the Briar Hall Playing Field.

Acting Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Senator Patrick Todd gave the feature address and commended both finalists for their success.

“I am told the level of skill displayed and the discipline exhibited by all the teams was of an exceptionally high standard. I am also told that there were a number of rising stars spotted in this tournament, who are destined to become household names in the football fraternity in the not too distant future,” said Todd.
