Sewage leak ‘a health hazard’

A HOLETOWN businessman feels like he has been put in the sewer.

Owner of Surfside Restaurant and Bar, Michael Henry, said that for about four weeks sewage has been leaking from an underground well owned by the neighbouring Holetown Post Office.

“The scent is getting out of hand now,” he said.

“Tourists that walk in it don’t even know what it is but I know it is sewage water.”

Henry said he feared the water would attract mosquitoes at a time when the country was on alert for the Zika virus and other illnesses spread by the bloodsucking insects.
