THE NATIONAL UNION of Public Workers (NUPW) is standing firm in its dispute with the Grantley Adams International Airport.
Yesterday, the union stoutly defended its position that the GAIA workers were entitled to a wages increase, during its meeting with management held at the airport.
General secretary Roslyn Smith told reporters they produced a telling document to the GAIA team and were able to clarify certain issues during the “amicable” meeting.
“I provided the budgetary financial statements of 2011, which show that there [was] an improvement in the growth in Barbados of 2.1 per cent . . . . So the notion that the minister [Richard Sealy] said that that letter was null and void, we’re saying that his statement is null and void because we have the evidence,” Smith said.
