Health-care overhaul needed

THE ENTIRE health care system in Barbados has to be reviewed so as to weed out inefficiencies.

And that applies to the human resources section as well, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Tennyson Springer, has recommended.

In addition, he believes a national health and wellness programme is a must if dreaded non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are to be finally tackled to the ground.

“We are forced with many questions, especially based on affordability,” the long-time health care administrator told a town hall meeting at the Princess Margaret School on Tuesday night.
