DON’T HARK BACK to the “good old days” which were characterised by poverty, a lack of social services and education for a privileged few.
But, said Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Chris Sinckler, don’t expect the next 50 years after Independence to be all about what Barbados can do for its people.
“I respectfully submit that the next 50 years is where the people of Barbados have to be there for Barbados,” he declared yesterday.
Sinckler, who was the featured speaker at the Parkinson Memorial School’s speech day, said he was aware of the talk, by some people, that times were hard, taxes were high and that society was disintegrating. (HLE)
