BARBADOS IS MAKING a serious effort to address structural issues in the economy.
This is the view of president of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr Warren Smith, who observed that the island’s economic difficulties went beyond fiscal and debt problems.
Smith told the SATURDAY SUN: “I think that the issue in Barbados is more than just fiscal and debt difficulties. There are also structural issues that have to be addressed and I think the good news is there is evidence that a serious effort is being made to address those structural issues.”
He added: “A lot of it has to do with creating the kind of environment within which the private sector will flourish and where investment can be accelerated.”
