FINANCIAL challenges can be a source of stress and mental illnesses during an economic downturn.
But the public is being cautioned that mental illness was no barrier to making a positive contribution to the society.
This is coming from senior psychologist at the Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Dalia Gibson, who was speaking at a health fair at the Black Rock, St Michael institution, in tribute to World Mental Health Day yesterday.
“For any financial stress things like anxiety and depression (can come about). You know people are anxious about whether they can make their payments at the end of the month; if they will still have a job,” she said.
