A CROWD OF ABOUT 5 000 turned up at Kensington Oval last night for the Dominica charity cricket match and a prince delighted.
Seeming to have lost none of his skills at the age of 46, batting great Brian Lara stroked his way to a majestic unbeaten 63 that formed the backbone of the UWI Vice Chancellor Celebrity XI’s 154 for six against the WICB Presient’s Celebrity XI.
Lara reached his fifty with a superb straight six off Darren Sammy but this Twenty20 was a light-hearted affair with cricket second place to the cause of helping storm-ravaged Dominica. Fans seemed to cheer every run. It was all good fun for a crowd that included Dominica beauty queen, 22-year-old Nadira Lando-Ghonim. (MK)
