LOOKA LEW: Live and laugh a little

I BET YOU all didn’t know, but there is an organ in the human body called “the sense of humour”, it is connected to the laughing bone and receives nutrients from the common- sense gland. Some people are born with it, some are not.

Therefore, I was not totally surprised when I wrote my article about Bajans living in Hell last week, that one or two people were unable to spot the satire and humour within.

One person even wrote on the Nation’s website, “And you getting paid to write this piece of rubbish? Wuhlos!”

Well that part made me laugh, cause that person like them ain’t know that even rubbish now making money; just ask the Cahill people.

Anyhow, after being told off by some readers, the person later admitted, “I concede that I perhaps, do not have a sense of humour. I concede that, perhaps, I am not as simple-minded as I should be. I concede that I can see clearly why the fabric of our society is breaking down.”

I was lost with the last rambling part, but it was the part of not having a sense of humour that I totally agreed with.

You see, those people with a sense of humour will purchase their WEEKEND Nation and bypass all the “angry news”, and head straight to read Lowdown Hoad and Looka Lew, cause people like to start their day with a smile, it lifts their spirits, and for some men that might be the only thing now lifting.

I don’t have any statistics but I also feel people who laugh a lot live longer, because even in death they would find something to smile about.

Take for instance. This Bajan woman in her 50s died. She goes to heaven but is told a mistake was made and she was not due there for another 30 years and that she should return to earth.

Thankful for the opportunity to live her life again, she decides to really live it up. She gets a facelift and breast implants to make herself look younger.

A few weeks later while crossing the road she gets knocked down by a truck and dies. She arrives into heaven, sees God and starts quarrelling, hear her, “I don’t understand what kinda man you is, you tell me I had another 30 years to live,” God calmly replies, “Girl, I didn’t recognise you, I thought you was somebody else.”

You see, when you have a sense of humour, even though you are a Christian, you could have a good laugh about a joke about God, so long as it is in the right context.

For example, a man asked his wife why did God create woman? She replied, “Well after God finished creating Adam, he had a lot of beauty and brain left over, so he scratched his head, looked at Adam and said, nah, I can do a lot better than that, then he created Eve.”

Now some men and some Christians would be offended by that joke, on the other hand those with a sense of humour would have a good laugh.

I for one believe that God has a sense of humour, how else could you explain him giving a centipede 40 legs and no hands?

So people life is too short to walk about with your mouth push up and grumpy all the time. I know things tough and everybody tense and tight, but learn to live and laugh a little. And if you don’t have a sense of humour, take my advice, when you see the others laughing, you laugh too.

Wunna might not know, but even Freundel does laugh. See ya.
