SHANE BRATHWAITE finished second in the men’s 110 metres hurdles at the IAAF World Challenge in Berlin, Germany yesterday.

Brathwaite picked up the silver medal after clocking 13.42 seconds, with Jamaica’s Andrew Riley winning in 13.40 seconds. Hungary’s Balzas Baji was third in 13.55 seconds.

This is marginally better than the 13.43 seconds he ran for fourth place at the IAAF Diamond League in Zurich on Friday.

Also in action yesterday in Berlin was national 100-metre hurdles record holder Kierre Beckles, who finished fifth in 13.02 seconds. The United States’ Dawn Harper-Nelson won in 12.82 seconds while Sharika Nelvis was second in 12.84 seconds. Tiffany Porter of Great Britain was third in 12.92 seconds.

Just last month at the IAAF World Championships, Beckles set a new national record of 12.88 seconds in the 100-metre hurdles.

Ramon Gittens finished fifth in the men’s 100 metres in 10.23 seconds while St. Kitts and Nevis’ Kim Collins won in 10.13 seconds. Isiah Young of the United Stated was second in 10.17 seconds while France’s Christophe Lemaitre was third in 10.19 seconds. (PG)
