TEACHERS IN BARBADOS are taking steps to assist their colleagues and students in storm ravaged Dominica.

The Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union has launched a collection drive, and president Mary Redman is encouraging its members and the general public to bring donations of school supplies, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, water, non-perishable food items and items that will be useful after a natural disaster to the union’s headquarters.

The BSTU is based at the Patrick Frost Centre at the top of 8th Avenue Belleville, opposite the Barbados Stock Exchange.

Redman is hoping Barbadians will respond generously, and with urgency, so that the supplies can be sent off when Coast Guard ship the HMBS Trident makes another trip to Dominica. (YB)
