FORMER PRINCIPAL of Combermere School Dorien Pile died today at age 73.

The veteran educator was the only female principal of the school.

She also served as vice-president of the Barbados Council for the Disabled and was a member of the National Commission on Law and Order.

Among those paying tribute today was Opposition Leader Mia Mottley who described Pile as one of Barbados’ most outstanding educators since Independence.

“I always found her to be a kind, compassionate person, who displayed a quiet dignity which enabled her to achieve what she set out to.  She exemplified the best of what Barbados has to offer.  Her dedication to the educating of young minds left an indelible mark on the many students who passed through her hands,” she said.
