Belle ends on a high note

TIA-ADANA BELLE has got another major medal.

Barbados finished the Pan American Junior Championships on a high, after the country’s best junior female distance hurdler won bronze in the 400 metres hurdles during last night’s final session in Edmonton, Canada.

Competing at the University of Alberta track, Belle – a silver medallist in the same event at last year’s IAAF Youth Championships – ran a spirited one minute, 0.03 seconds to finish third behind eventual winner Anna Cockrell (57.10 seconds) of the US and Canadian Taysia Radoslav (59.08).

The feat was well off the personal best of 57.45 for the reigning national champ, but good enough to give Barbados their third and final medal at the meet following Sada Williams’ second medal-winning performance of the games on Saturday night. (JM)
