THE GO-SLOW by Customs officers is up in the air as a planned meeting between the two major unions did not materialise yesterday afternoon.
It is now left to be seen if the officers will continue with their action into next week as union officials of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) schedule a meeting for next Wednesday.
Acting NUPW general secretary Rosalind Smith, speaking after yesterday’s postponed meeting at the Barbados Workers’ Union headquarters, said a mix-up meant that the NUPW and the BWU did not get to discuss whether Customs officers would continue with their go-slow into the coming week.  (HLE)
