THE BARBADOS Olympic Association (BOA) had no idea that legendary American sprinter Carl Lewis was coming to Barbados.
The association made its position clear following concerns about its low-key involvement in the recent visit by the multiple Olympic gold medallist.
The track and field great was invited to Barbados by Springer Memorial School and he conducted a one-day seminar for athletes at the National Stadium as well as a motivational talk at the Wildey Gymnasium put on by the Ministry of Sports.
Representatives from the BOA as well as the Athletic Association of Barbados were noticeably absent from all of the events.
BOA president Steve Stoute, who is presently attending the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, contacted the SUNDAY SUN to indicate that his association had not been consulted about Lewis’ visit.
