THIRTY-THREE THOUSAND dollars in labour and materials came crashing down when officials from the Town and Country Planning Development office moved in on an illegal commercial structure in Taitt Road, Brittons Hill, yesterday.
The four-hour demolition has left Mark Williams, the owner of Mark’s Bar, pondering his next move and fuming that “there is a lot more structures in this island that up illegal and a lot more things that gine on in this island”.
From around 9 a.m., a crew from the Ministry of Public Works began dismantling the wood and galvanised sheets structure under the watchful eye of officials from the Town and Country Planning Development Office and lawmen from the Hastings Police Station.
Senior town planner Rudy Headley explained the department had issued an enforcement notice to Williams, from as far back as May 2013. (HLE)
