SUPER Mario Burke did the sprint double to highlight the track and field bill at the May Classic at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Carifta senior boys champion representing the High Performance Programme, just held off the challenge of Jermaine Hinds of UWI Blackbirds to win the open men’s 100 metres in 10.59 seconds. Hinds clocked 10.62 and Kemar Cumberbatch of Queen’s College was third in 10.80 seconds.
Burke was far more convincing in the 200 metres taking that with metres to spare in 21.00 seconds, again ahead of Hinds in 21.37 seconds with another High Performance competitor Josiah Atkins third in 21.65 seconds.
