BEORE DECEMBER 22, 2014, Shemoya Carty was looking forward to her Christmas break after her first term at Harrison College.

Selvin Carty was working towards striking out on his own, with hopes of establishing a construction management company.

Lorraine Carty was bringing the tastes of Kingston to the palettes of Barbadians, running a catering business out of their Maxwell, Christ Church home.

But on December 22, 2014, plans for a routine trip to Bridgetown came to a screeching halt, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of the family.
