No solution

MINISTER OF LABOUR Dr Esther Byer now has the job of trying to find a solution after the breakdown of talks between the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and the Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd. (BL&P).

Following eight hours of discussions over two days under his chairmanship, Chief Labour Officer Vincent Burnett announced yesterday that the dispute was being referred to Byer.

He put the referral down to the lack of “a satisfactory conclusion” of the talks over the issue of planned job cuts at BL&P and the fact that he would be out of the country this week.
