SOMEONE WAS CREMATED in Barbados every 41 hours during the first three months of this year.
This figure, said three popular funeral directors, demonstrates a trend against traditional interment.
And they said given the cost advantages of cremations over traditional burials in certain circumstances, the drift will definitely increase.
“Cremations are growing extremely [fast]. I think we are going to get more than 200 this year,” said Russell Griffith, managing director of Lyndhurst Funeral Home, disclosing that 167 cremations were done last year.
