GEORGETOWN – A policeman in Guyana has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of a 16-year-old student.Prosecutors say officer Quancy John was responding to a report about a group of students making trouble outside a high school when he shot Kelvin Fraser. Authorities say the teenager was shot in the back as he and other students ran away from the police patrol. The first police report on last month’s shooting said Fraser had scuffled with police. That sparked protests among students and neighbours in the community outside the South American country’s capital, Georgetown, who said he was shot in cold blood.A judge ordered John jailed at his first court appearance Monday.
