Barbados’ hockey fraternity is today mourning the loss of one or its pillars, Mike Owen who passed away yesterday at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Owen, who was 70 years old, had been suffering with Alzheimer’s disease.
A former president of the Barbados Men’s Hockey Association, Owen was one of the architects behind the establishment of the Banks International Hockey Festival. He also did public relations and fund-raising for the Special Olympics.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Angela, to whom he was married for 39 years, and his sons Mark and Neil. (MK)
