Derelict buildings a concern

THE BARBADOS FIRE SERVICE is concerned about abandoned buildings in and around The City.
Chief Fire Officer Wilfred Marshall said the buildings were potential hazards because of the vagrants who inhabited them.
“We had a couple of those fires in The City area, where we’re told vagrants inhabit them. And then we have fires every now and then in these buildings.”
Marshall said the vagrants smoked and cooked in the buildings, and since there was a lot of rubbish “it always ends up in some type of fire in those buildings”. (YB)
