Audit BL&P!

Prominent businessman Sir David Seale believes electricity is too costly and wants Government to conduct an efficiency audit of Barbados Light & Power’s (BL&P) operations.
Arguing that this island’s lone power company had virtually become a law unto itself, Sir David stressed the need for an audit to show the true cost of producing electricity on the island.
“The Light &?Power can get an increase in rates based on costs and that’s the end of that. They are guaranteed a profit, probably the only organization in the world that is guaranteed a profit by the system,” Sir David said.
“We the consumers, whether commercial or industrial are paying the price for that, and I think it is time that the Barbados Government calls for an efficiency audit of the costs of producing electricity by the Light &?Power Company, because at the end of the day, they may probably find they can produce it a lot cheaper,” he added.
